Groundbreaking research in fertility

Pushing the boundaries in advancing reproductive science.

Laying the foundation for tomorrow's fertility treatments

We are pioneering the future of fertility care through cutting-edge research initiatives. Our world-class research team is committed to uncovering new possibilities that will continue to improve chances of success.

How we use data and artificial intelligence

At Apricity, our science team is taking the lead by creating new fertility solutions to increase success rates and lower the stress involved with fertility treatments.

We are working not only on short-term fixes, but also on ambitious long-term projects that will change the face of the fertility industry forever. Rather than waiting for the industry to change, we are taking a proactive role in shaping the future.

Here are just a few of the projects we are working on today:

Augmented clinical decision making

We use data from 25,000 IVF cycles to inform and augment the clinical decisions made by our doctors.

This is effectively a database of historical human decisions (and their outcomes) that we can use to make decisions based on a collective experience that vastly outweighs the individual experience a doctor can gain over their lifetime.

The database takes into account the conditions of an individual patient such as age, the presence of PCOS or other issues, whether an agonist or antagonist protocol has been used, and compares this to previous examples of patients with the similar or identical circumstances to decide what the best future course of action should be, then informs the doctor.

The doctor always has the ultimate sign off. This means our care is still very person-centred, but we augment human decision making with technology when possible.

3D embryo modelling

Our world-class research team is pioneering the use of 3D models of embryos for all our patients.

When this project is complete, it will produce models that show the structure of ambryos, which indicates if genetic errors are occurring, if the embryo has the wrong number of chromosomes, or if the chromosomes don't split equally when the cells are dividing. The model will also allow the team to track the cells and figure out where they're going, to make sure the irregular cells don’t do too much damage.

This information indicates whether the embryo has the potential to survive, or if it isn’t of the required quality. By using only sufficiently healthy embryos, this gives a much greater chance of successful pregnancies and live births. We will see this reflected in further increased success rates, which are already well above the UK national average.

AI chat monitoring

Our AI engine monitors every chat our advisory team has with patients to see patterns in the questions people ask, so we can tailor our customer experience.

This is AI embedded in the human experience, analysing text so we can see what questions are most common, alerting us to things it picks up and categorising them to inform and supercharge our patient guidance.

There might be something small that is not picked up by individual advisors but is repeated across various conversations so that it becomes significant.

Inclusivity

Our remote-first fertility model means people all around the UK can benefit from the best care from the best clinics in the country.

Eight of the ten appointments someone typically needs for a cycle of IVF can be done from home, with just two on site. A patient can choose any clinic that we partner with for their in-person treatments, then have their end-to-end patient care done remotely by our medical team on video calls. Ultrasound scans can be conducted by remote nurses via our pioneering at-home ultrasonography service, and blood tests done at home with easy-to-use kits sent by post.

If someone in the north of England wants to use the clinic of their choice in London and go to visit two or three times, they can, or they can choose a clinic closer to home.

Apricity research team

Our world-leading research team of data scientists, data engineers and clinicians work collaboratively to develop new tools to improve and enhance fertility success. Each year we welcome MSc students to embark on their own research projects, nurturing a new generation of trailblazers in fertility.
